On 15-01-2009 Bomenstichting (`The Dutch Tree Foundation") organised an intimate New Years` Party in Utrecht in Restaurant Lofen, close to the famous tower Dom. This was the ultimate opportunity to express feelings of gratitude and respect to the former Managing Director of Bomenstichting: drs. Helène van der Poel. In a warm and personal speech the Chairman of the Executive Committee, Dr. Hein van Asperen, expressed -on behalf of the Executive Committee- gratitude and respect to Helène for her ongoing efforts for a long, fertile and sometimes very tough period of seven years. Later on Hein mentioned Helène`s significant qualities and talents, based on the characteristics of the Keltic Appletree. As a special gesture, the Executive Committee appointed Helène Advisor of Honour of Bomenstichting. The (still going strong) Deputy Managing Director of Bomenstichting, Frank Moens, expressed -on behalf of the whole team of Bomenstichting including the still growing group of (nowadays more than 200 active) volunteers- his positive feelings and gave her a special present. This impressive box was prepared by (always creative) collegue San van der Molen. An other team member, drs. Edwin Koot, just back from far away Thailand, also spoke warm words to Helène and gave her a Boedha-present, connected to special trees. My wife Joke and I were invited to say goodbye to Helène too. I had been a member of the Executive Committee for a long period of 3 times 3 = 9 years, untill 31-12-2008. After so many reflections and retrospections I cherish good memories of my fertile coorporation with Helène. After my return from Surinam (and Turkey?) and before leaving my country again to go to Costa Rica, my Bomenstichting Executive Committee Farewell Dinner will take place on 23-03-2009... Joke and I are looking forward to that special event...
