As country estate entrepreneur I discovered that the fertile flora can be destroyed by overwhelming populations of fauna. It still remains a challenge to keep nature in balance. On sustainable country estates, initiated and controlled by Forest Returns, so called ecological corridors have been (re)created. Personnally I am very glad that in Costa Rica and in Surinam the jaguar (as the biggest predator in Central and South America) returned... Indeed; from Forest Returns .. to Jaguar Returns... That is why I decided from the start that hunting will be prohibited on Hacienda la Esperanza in Costa Rica and Landgoed Groot Mariënbosch in Surinam. In European countries however, fauna has to be controlled by man, being the highest in rank in the food chain. For that reason, I consider sustainable hunting one of my personal responsibilities . Sometimes it is a dirty job but somebody has to do it...
