Photography » Jaguar Lodge in my Back Yard in Zeist

After so many challenging `Indiana Jones like` adventures in the tropics and after having so many good experiences with lodges during so many hunting trips abroad, I made an important decision in 2008: to build, together with my forestry and lumber mate Tom Bos (of Bos Houthandel in Austerlitz) my own open lodge in our back yard in Zeist in The Netherlands. Respecting the trees and also as a tribute to these trees we have built this lodge around our Douglas Pine, planted in 1935 ( the same year our house was built) and around our `vlier` which spontaneously rose in 1995 when Joke and I bought our cosy home. For two days Tom and I worked close together and on a Saturday I added the final touches on the job and realised my personal dream: The Jaguar Lodge in Zeist. When at home I enjoy, as an `afficionado` smoking cigars in this cosy lodge (in all seasons !) , as a hedonist drinking after dinner my favourite Armagnac, Cognac, Genever, or Whisky while reading in this intimate and ultimate atmosphere hunting and freemasonry literature. Quality of life indeed... And fun too. As a passionate Forest Returns country estate entrepreneur I am used to surfaces of several square kilometres (up to 183.000 hectares in Brazil for example), and in my other passion: `scenery with trains` I create on square millimetres level ( scale 1 : 220) and in this back yard at home on square metres level. Contrastive, is`nt it ? Moreover, our granddaughter Lotte (born on 10-03-2006) also loves to play in the Jaguar lodge as you can see on one of the  pictures  our son Onno made of his daughter... And the lodge saga continued after my return from Costa Rica, Panama, Trinidad, Surinam on 02-07-2009
