`This day is the first day of the rest of my life`, I wrote early this morning. A special day again indeed. First of all it was the birthday of my father in law Harry Kloppenborg who died at the age of 93 in Utrecht ... However, today we also celebrate the birthday of our youngest son Joris, born in 1978 in Alkmaar. At 08:00 a.m. I had -so I was told- a fertile meeting with the Foppen Family in their impressive manor house (of Foppen Vastgoed bv) Oranje Mecklenburg, Harderwijk... Afterwards the planned business luncheon took place with Patrick Teunissen and Evert Driessen of Business Maritime. Later on we had an assesment, led by our maritime engineer, ship expert & yacht surveyor Gerard Duursma of Duursma & Versluijs. With the permission of the Foppen Family and with the help of Captain Coen den Helder, Gerard made a professional survey on board of MPS "Stad Harderwijk" as shown in this photo album. In spite of my 3 piece suit I joined Gerard and Coen in the heart & lungs of this promising ship, originally built in 1964 by G. de Vries Lentsch, Nieuwendam. After the assesment tour around and on board the ship Gerard and I had a meeting with Coen in the `VIP-room` on board MPS "Stad Harderwijk" in the presence of Patrick Teunissen, Evert Driessen and Femke Vrij (account manager on behalf of Flevo Rederij/ARdJ & Associates). Coen told me afterwards that he had been surprised to see me, as an executive, go downstairs in this ship and look around like I did. The normal attitude, I think. I shared with Captain Coen my -in the eyes of others - sometimes unusual/strange/ habits. As an Indiana Jones look alike. And last but not least with affection and respect for the benefit of the most important capital of all: human capital !
