Publication: Future Restaurant on `Groot Mariënbosch`

Picture: Future Restaurant on `Groot Mariënbosch` Sunday 01 February 2009 - In the near future, a sophysticated and cosy holistic restaurant is planned at the `Commewijne Rivier` on our 2.400 metres broad riverside  property `Landgoed Groot Mariënbosch` . My associate Marije van Zomeren and I prefer to work with trustworthy people. For that specific reason we asked restaurant expert Marcel Wittenberg to give us some practical advice.

`Chef Marcel` is well known in Paramaribo for his successes in the famous Torarica Hotel. On the other hand, Marcels` wife Jacqueline became -with a little help of her husband and friends- the `founding mother oj Cosa Nostra`, the ultimate restaurant with an Italian touch where we had our tasty `Better Future Business Leaders dinner. Besides, I wrote an epigram on that special ocasion...

Marcel Wittenberg, his wife Jacqueline, their 11 year old son Mels and some of their friends joined us today during a  special boat trip with one of our `korjalen` to `Landgoed Groot Mariënbosch`. Ashwin -as ever- was our experienced boatsman.

The proof of the pudding is in the eating. So we stopped for a while at Robbie`s place on the former plantation "Johanna Margaretha" for a tasty late lunch on the waterfront with a specal view on the Atlantic Ocean. Later on we visited the cosy village itself where about 80 families live (approximately 400 people). After that we continued our trip to our own country estate by boat.

The `directeurswoning` of our "Landgoed Groot Mariënbosch" was under construction, in particular the restoration of the wooden floor of the living room. This room had te be prepared for our third investors meeting, planned on Sunday, 15 Februari 2009.

Our caretaker Noer, assisted by his wife Mina, offered us the special ritual `kokoswater` of our   `koningspalmen`. `The captain of the sailing ship of the Forest Returns fleet`, called `Landgoed Groot Mariënbosch`, Mr. Saoed Abdoelrahman, had everything in control as usual.  Our business of sustainable hospitality is people`s business. Yes,it is...

After our return at the `Torarica Pier` at 18:30 we discussed furthermore our future plans  in detail.

Mels Wittenberg was an enthousiast travel companion too and made some of the pictures, shown in the chapter "Photography".

To be continued...
