Publication: Tribute to Albert Soedamah in Surinam
Wednesday 18 February 2009 - Together with my associate Marije van Zomeren and her husband Jeroen van der Vlies a special dinner party was organised in Restaurant I Sensi for Albert Soedamah, our contactperson and `Harbour Master` in Paramaribo at the Grote Combéweg 25-27.
This dinner party was maent as a birthday present (Alberts` 61 birthday) and as a personal expression of gratitude by Marije and me as managing partners of Landgoed Groot Mariënbosch, to this solid and trustworthy lawyer and management consultant.
A long time ago mr. Albert D. Soedamah successfully fullfilled many managerial tasks in leading entities, e.g. within the sections of HJ de Vries Groep, one of the most famous corporations in Surinam. First as a Human Resources Manager, then as a Sales Director and last but not least as the Chief Executive Officer. After this Albert changed his profession and became a distinguished lawyer.
Marije and I were introduced to Albert in April 2008 by Robert Putter Engel. Since then the fertile coorporation between Landgoed Groot Mariënbosch and Albert Soedamah made it possible to fit into the king-size puzzle so many positive pieces we represent.
Albert is also an active Consul for Forest Returns ...
But above all Albert is a family man who is very proud of his wife Marijke, son Rick, daughter Maja, daughter-in-law Yvonne and his three grandchildren.

Thanks to `Chef Maurice` and his dedicated team the four of us had a very tasty and balanced dinner in I Sensi.
During that delicious dinner I spontaneously wrote the following epigram in Dutch as a tribute to the trustworthy person mr. Albert D. Soedamah:
Met een 61-jarige Albert in het mij nu zo vertrouwde Switi Sranan.
Marije, Jeroen en Cor alhier in I Sensi met een man die veel kan.
Inderdaad, mr. Albert D. Soedamah, van vele markten thuis,
een prima communicator zonder al te veel ruis in de buis.
Helder formulerend, extra zaken nog eens met verve duiden
een oprecht mens, zonder aanziens van de kleur der huiden
Talenkennis en talenkunde, zoals Hindi, doch ook ons ABN,
Sarramaccaans, Sranantongo, doch ook anderszins aan de ren.
Immers: ook de taal Visserslatijn is hem niet geheel vreemd
en zelfs na Alberts` vertrek naar Paramaribo niet ontheemd.
Hij is namelijk nog steeds trots op zijn Nickeriaanse afkomst,
in contact met alle bevolkingslagen, van briljant tot allerdomst.
Terugblikkend op diens Human Resources Managment-verleden,
bleef Albert geliefd bij veel verschillende mensen tot in dit heden.
Trots is Albert op zijn vrouw Marijke als dierbare steun en toeverlaat
doch ook bieden zoon Rick, diens vrouw Yvonne en dochter Maja baat
Anno nu weer even tweetalig; `people`s business`, `par excellence`
niet altijd in groot verband, doch wel alhier in een soort trance.
Want in kleinere kring is Albert toch echt op zijn allerbest,
dat geldt ook voor deze laatste avond die ons in Sranan rest.
Met weemoed neem ik zaterdag weer node afscheid
Suriname stal en steelt mijn hart, al wat langere tijd.
Dank aan jou, ware en waarde Albert, voor o zoveel,
zelfs ik krijg nauwelijks meer strofen uit mijn keel.
Op deze weliswaar verlate verjaardag mijn extra gelukwensen
aan jou, Albert, een dierbare kameraad voor ons soort mensen...
