Publication: Brotherhood in Babunhol

Picture: Brotherhood in Babunhol Thursday 19 February 2009 - Thanks to freemasonry I met ir. Hans Hanenberg in April 2008 . Our personal relationship became more intense, based on mutual respect for people & nature and above all based on brotherhood & friendship. In September 2008 Hans visited our multifunctional country estate Landgoed Groot Mariënbosch at the Commewijne Rivier and became very enthousiastic about our vision & mission. He became joint owner and member of our supervisory board . And last but not least Consul of Forest Returns !

A retrospective

In April 2008 I joined -together with 14 other freemasons from 9 Dutch lodges- brother freemason John Waalring who had organised a special trip to Surinam to strenghten the ties between freemasons of 9 lodges in The Netherlands and  3 lodges in Paramaribo. Moreover, since 2006 my associate Marije van Zomere had made me enthousiastic about her favourite country Surinam.

Together with Hans Hanenberg -in his capacity of Provincial Grand Master of all Surinam lodges- I organised a special event, including the presentation of an epigram i had spontaneously written shortly before in Torarica Hotel. This was the beginning of a strong relationship.

In September 2008 I invited Hans to join my asscociate and managing partner drs. Marije van Zomeren and me on our country estate Landgoed Groot Mariënbosch at the Commewijne Rivier and Hans became very enthousiast about our vision, mission and more concrete plans for the near future.

On my request Hans decided to become joint owner and member of the supervisory board of Sagamore International NV, soon to be renamed into Landgoed Groot Mariënbosch NV. He  was   installed as a Forest Returns Consul too. After my return to Holland Marije stayed one week longer and she had an other meeting with Hans in his Hanhold Headquarters in Paramaribo.

New Babunhol River Resort today
During several meetings Hans expressed his love for his own paradise at the Suriname Rivier, called New Babunhol. Sail to http://babunhol.com/ .This River Resort, located between "Overbridge" and "Berg en Dal", has been in his possesion since 1984. Hans invited me to take some days off and join him to his beautiful resort. So I did. Pictures say more than a thousand words. If interested, go to "Photography".

Back to the future
Proprietor Hans Hanenberg is very eager to make it possible for tourists who are staying in Paramaribo, to visit this paradise at the Suriname Rivier. With a little help of his friends Hans will create more facilities on the spot including a sustainable restaurant -overlooking the relaxing river. Tours in combination with Landgoed Groot Mariënbosch are also interesting opportunities .
