Publication: Brotherhood in Wittenberg Castle

Picture: Brotherhood in Wittenberg Castle Saturday 04 September 2010 - After various contacts in the past in different countries I decided in 2003 to become a freemason. In 2004 I became member of the freemasonry lodge number 294: `De Drie Grote Lichten` in Bilthoven thanks to the introduction by Gerard Otten.

I am very grateful too to my `brother` Frits van der Sman of Nobel Films, who produced my personal freemasonry testimonials as you can hear and see in a part of my personal portfolio

Sometimes I write epigrams about certain subjects like dedicated brothers , rites and rituals. Examples given: nature elements, as created by my `brother` Harry de Bont. So I wrote the following epigrams (including sound !) with some help of my `brother` Ernst van Splunter:
water
lucht (= air)
vuur (= fire)
aarde (=earth)

As a `brand new` Mark Master Mason (of Lodge 1516, "Het Sticht" in Amersfoort) I wrote today at dinner table 11 of `Wittenberg Castle` in Wassenaar spontaneously following epigram (if interested a pdf-document can be downloaded):

Epigram during Mark Master Masons Dinner,
Saturday, September 4th, 2010
Kasteel De Wittenberg", Wassenaar,
Dinner Table 11

William Schaw was my 18th century Scottish name, dear distinguished brethren,
today I am here as a private soldier, on behalf of lodge 1516, section 4, southern,

Now that more than 250 years of freemasonry have past in that tiny country Holland,
as a passionate hunter I remember British weaponry, branded “Holland & Holland”.

Back to the future, today with a growing group of dedicated Mark Master Masons,
sharing -during their regular lodge events- reflections, self therapy and meditations.

As a Mark Master Mason I still strongly believe in depth, sensitivity and spirituality,
believing more in the mind setting of people in particular rather than title technicality.

As a brand new sixty-one years old Mark Master Mason in this special year 2010
I was really impressed in Amersfoort by the unique ritual, but that was then...

In July this year all Mark Master Masons received an extraordinary invitation,
in spite of my former doubts I discarded -by joining- my own personal hesitation.

The title inflation surprised some other brethren around this dinner table as well,
as serious Mark Master Masons anxiously search for the sincere spiritual well.

Based on my Royal Military Academy background I experienced some military ranks;
I saw in Wittenberg Castle so many chiefs and so few private soldiers with blanks.

Dinner table 11 prefers to focus on brotherhood; titles drove us round the bend.
Anyway, I sincerely thank you very much for this special Grand Lodge Event !

Is the pen mightier than the sword?
